Upon arrival at Tan Son Nhat International airport, Hochiminh City, please follow the signs to immigration and passport control, collect your luggage and proceed through customs. Your private tour guide and driver will be waiting for you in the arrivals hall with an Active Asia Travel welcome sign with your name on (** Please note: this is the standard sign board all your tour guides will have for meet and greet at airports and rail stations on your trip).

Transfer by private vehicle to your hotel.

08:00. After breakfast meet your private guide and driver for a picturesque trip to Ben Tre town, the heart of the Mekong Delta, popularly known as the “rice bowl” of Vietnam, famous for its vast rice fields, orchards, coconut trees, and numerous waterways.

10:00. After approximately 2 hours driving through lush farm land arrive at Ben Tre town. From here, board a motorized boat and sail down the scenic Ben Tre River, meandering through the mangrove trees, watching the daily life along the river bank, and the activity of fishing and coconut cargo boats on the waterway.

Stop at a traditional brick works to see how bricks are made by hand. Turn into the Cai Son canal winding through the coconut jungle. Visit a coconut workshop to see the stages of coconut processing including removing the husks, and prizing out the coconut flesh by hand. Continue cruising the waterways, before stopping at a coconut candy workshop. Watch how the coconut confectionary is made by hand, enjoy some candy and fruit and listen to local music. Return to the boat and visit a local farming family who make sleeping mats.

Hop on tuk tuk which will take you through the coconut groves followed by lunch at a local restaurant. 

After lunch travel by rowing boat along the canal shaded by palm trees. Meet your private vehicle and return to Ho Chi Minh City

16:30. Arrive back at your hotel.

VN 1386 SGN-DLI 18:10-19:15 (Operated by Vietnam Airlines)

After breakfast, transfer by private car with driver and guide to visit the Cu Chi tunnels complex. The tunnels were constructed during the “American war” and used by the Viet Cong. Today, some of the tunnels have been opened up to visitors, offering a unique insight into what underground life must have been like during the war.  

Upon arrival, watch a brief documentary film about the Cu Chi area and then begin the tour walking along the dirt paths through the bush. You will also have the chance to crawl through some of the tunnels. 

Return to Ho Chi Minh City. Lunch at a local restaurant.

Rest of the afternoon at your leisure time until your flight to Da Lat. 

16:00. Transfer to Tan Son Nhat airport.

18:10. Flight departs.

19:15. Arrive Lien Khuong Airport, Dalat. Your guide and driver will be waiting in the arrival hall with an Active Asia sign. 

Transfer to your hotel for check-in. Evening at your leisure.

Overnight in Dalat.
 

After breakfast, cycle from your hotel to the Da Lat cable car station. The cable car descends down 300 m with great views of flower and vegetable fields and the pine forested valley below. Visit Tuyen Lam Lake and take a boat trip. 

In the afternoon, continue cycling and visit the Summer Palace of Emperor Bao Dai (the last king of Vietnam) and the Crazy House (Hang Nga Palace) which is described as a “fairy tale house”.

Visit XQ Historical Village which offers you romantic views of flowers, trees and beautiful young artists in their traditional Ao Dais. These young princesses create fascinating silk embroidery paintings, renown around the world for their uniqueness and royal origins.
     
Cycle back to your hotel. Rest of the day at your leisure.

Overnight in Dalat.

After breakfast check-out of your hotel. 

07:30. Depart by car traveling 45-minutes northeast of Dalat through Bidoup Nui Ba national park, a route which offers fantastic cycling through the highlands as well as down a 30 km pass to the coast. The first section starts in forest areas and rolls over the hills with beautiful views of farms, the countryside and Bidoup Mountain. There is one final 2 km climb to the top of the pass before some serious downhill travel. This next downhill section is the longest we offer with an uninterrupted 30 km ride. After reaching the bottom of the pass, enjoy a picnic lunch by the side of the river.

In the afternoon cycle through small villages and farms; some sections of this route may be challenging going up and down the rolling hills.  The average cycling riding distance is 70 km with an option to ride less or more. The support vehicle can be used at any time if you are tired, as well as being used to transport luggage and provisions.

Arrive Nha Trang. Check-in to your hotel. Evening at your leisure.

After breakfast, check-out of your hotel. Travel by private vehicle to Co Ma town. Ride over the Co Ma pass to Dai Lanh for a beach break. Enjoy the blue seas, soft white sands, and mountains. The ultra-clear blue waters make Dai Lanh really special. Cycle to Ca Ma pass on to Tuy Hoa, Phu Yen Province for lunch. 

In the afternoon, transfer by private vehicle to Quy Nhon. Check-in your hotel.

Biking distance: 80 kilometers (moderate grade)

After breakfast, check-out of the hotel and start your cycle ride to Binh Duong town, Phu My District, Binh Dinh Province. The roads are small and they wind through many rural villages. Cycling is on mixed quality surfaces across which some sections the bus may not be able to follow. 

Meet your private vehicle and transfe to Sa Huynh for lunch and a beach break. 

Keep traveling by private vehicle to Duc Pho, Quang Ngai Province. Then cycle through Nghia Hanh to your hotel in Quang Ngai.

After breakfast, check-out of your hotel. Cycle to My Lai village to visit the site where 504 villagers were massacred  during the American War. Cycle on to My Khe beach, and Chau O town in Binh Son District, Quang Ngai Province. Stop for lunch at a local restaurant. 

Transfer to Hoi An and check-in to your hotel. Rest of the day and evening at your leisure.

Overnight in Hoi An.

Time: 08:00 am-15:00 pm

We start the day with a welcome drink at Hai Café (98 Nguyen Thai Hoc Street, Hoi An Ancient Town) – our meeting point.

Travel on your private vehicle (10 mins) to Tra Que Organic Village, and walk through the market gardens where local farmers work their fields using the traditional methods of hundreds of years ago – no electrical machinery here. We pick fresh saw-tooth coriander and Vietnamese mint for our cooking lesson later, before trying a special herbal drink at a local home.

To the local village market and with shopping list in hand we purchase a range of local ingredients, including star anise, cardamom, sesame rice paper, water spinach and banana flower.

Arriving at Red Bridge Cooking School we have a chance to freshen up before beginning our class. Working together with our Red Bridge Chef we learn the traditional ways of preparing and cooking Vietnamese food from scratch. Using the freshest ingredients and traditional Vietnamese utensils (still in use today) we cook 4 famous dishes, including the national dish ‘Pho’.

After the class we sit down and a chance to savour the dishes we have prepared. Leisurely cruise (25 minutes) along the Hoi An River back to central Hoi An.

Bring your swimsuit and after the cooking tour has finished relax and enjoy free use of our 20 metre swimming pool.

Transfer back to your hotel. Rest of the day and evening at your leisure.

08:00. After breakfast, check-out of your hotel and depart by cycle on the coast road along the China beach,  stopping for drinks before heading up and over the Hai Van Pass (featured on the  BBC Top Gear TV program as the most beautiful coastal mountain routes in the world). Avoid the traffic on Highway 1 and take the scenic countryside lane,  enjoy some of Vietnam’s most impressive landscapes. 

Stop at Lang Co beach for a seafood lunch. 

After lunch continue along the rim of Lang Co lagoon through small fishing villages, up and over the Phu Gia mountain pass. 

Then travel on your private vehicle for the last section to Hue (the former capital of Vietam during the Nguyen Dynasty). 

Check-in your hotel. Rest of the day and evening at your leisure.

Overnight in Hue.

VN 1379 HUI-HAN 19:00-20:40 (Operated by Vietnam Airlines)

08:00. After breakfast, check-out of your hotel and meet your local guide and motorbike driver for your Hue tour. Riding pillion start with a short visit to Thanh Toan Village to see its lively morning market, where the locals buy their daily food. Visit the nearby 300-years old Thanh Toan tile-roofed bridge and the local cultural museum. 

Continue on to the Forbidden Purple City, the former home to the Nguyen Dynasty kings from 1802-1945. 

12noon. Lunch time at a local Buddhist Monastery, prepared and served by the nuns.

In the afternoon, visit one of the impressive imperial tombs (the tomb of Emperor Tu Duc), Thien Mu Pagoda and the Tiger Arena. The next stop is An Hien garden house, one of the most typical houses that retains its original garden house  features in Hue.

Back in Hue city and spend time visiting Dong Ba market, a famous local market which gives many photographic opportunities with its bustling vegetable stalls and local crafts.

Transfer by private vehicle to Phu Bai airport, Hue for your evening flight to Ha Noi.

20:40. Upon arrival at Noi Bai airport terminal 1 in Hanoi, your local guide and driver will meet you at the arrival hall.

Transfer to your hotel. Rest of the evenning at your leisure.

Biking distance: 50 kilometers (easy grade)

Have breakfast at the hotel then meet your guide in the hotel lobby. After a briefing and a short warm up, leave your hotel for a full day’s cycle around Hanoi. Please note that Hanoi’s streets have no cycle lanes and cycling will be in the middle of the motorbikes and cars along busy roads. So this cycle tour is customized for those who are familiar with cycling in big cities.  

In the morning, visit Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Ho Chi Minh’s stilt house, the One Pillar Pagoda and the Temple of Literature.

After lunch at a local restaurant, continue cycling in the afternoon to the Museum of Ethnology home to a comprehensive and excellent collection of the 54 ethnic groups of Vietnam. 

16:00. Return back to your hotel. Rest of the afternoon and evening at your leisure.

Overnight in Hanoi.
