A DAY IN HANOI

08:30. Dive in to the sights, sounds and smells of Hanoi.  Your guide and driver will collect you from the hotel lobby to start your trip with a visit to the Ho Chi Minh complex on the site where he declared Vietnam’s independence in 1945, and see the reverence with which Vietnamese people treat their “Uncle Ho”. Other sites that we will visit with our local guide include: House 54, Stilt House, Presidential Palace and the One Pillar Pagoda.

Continuing on our journey through Hanoi we drive to the Museum of Ethnology, to learn more about the cultural diversity of Vietnam’s ethnic minorities. Established by the Vietnamese government in 1997, the museum provides us with a fascinating insight into the diverse cultures, customs and lifestyles of the 54 ethnic groups that inhabit Vietnam.

Lunch at Koto restaurant where you can enjoy exceptional dishes made of fresh and healthy ingredients as well as to learn about the restaurant's interesting story.

In the afternoon, visit to the Temple of Literature.  Originally built in honor of Confucius by Emperor Ly Thanh Tong in 1070, a university was added to the grounds six years later. The university provided education to the royal family and children of the aristocracy or "mandarins". The University remained here until Emperor Gia Long moved the countries administrative capital from Hanoi to Hue in the 18th century.

Commence a walking tour in Hanoi's famous Old Quarter. The streets of the Old Quarter preserve age-old customs, where trade takes you back half a century and temples, pagodas, and monuments reflect the historic character of Vietnam. This densely populated corner of the city was once a center of commerce where goods were sold under the street name of a particular guild. Still a thriving community of sellers today, you will see street names such as Sugar Street, Tin Street and Paper Street. Ancient homes and temples are interspersed with stores in this souvenir hunter's paradise!

This tour will also include visiting some of our very special historical sites such as Dong Xuan Market, Ma May Old House. Also, we visit the Pho Co Cafe (a hidden café shop) at Hang Gai street where we can enjoy the special Egg Coffee and watch the stunning panorama view of Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi’s Old Quarter below.

Our services will be ended after our private tour guide take you back to your hotel in Hanoi on foot.

Discover the tiny narrow unique train street in Hanoi which is surrounded by high narrow houses packed closely together. All the families’ backyards here are the railways where the train passes a few times per day. Sitting at a cafe in line with the railway and watching the lives of local people surely brings memorable experiences to visitors.
